SOMOS was founded by a group of three friends who grew up in Mexico eating chilaquiles, cooking tacos, and loving their moms’ home cooking. When we came to the United States, we enjoyed meeting up with friends at great Mexican restaurants, but we were disappointed with the options available for creating truly delicious Mexican meals at home. Together, we combined our Mexican heritage and our years of experience in the food community to create ready-to-eat foods that honor Mexico’s rich culinary traditions.

SOMOS celebrates the cultural vitality of our homeland and makes it easier than ever to enjoy Mexican meals at home.

SOMOS offers a variety of flavorful products, including rice and beans, that are quick and easy to prepare, making them ideal for convenient meals. Customers appreciate the authentic Mexican flavors and the inclusion of healthy ingredients. However, some customers found the products to be overpriced and overly salty. Additionally, concerns were raised about the high sodium content and the use of plastic packaging.

I really liked this rice! I usually love any kind but this one was tasty! I got the Mexican red rice and enjoyed it 

Far exceeded my expectations!  The rice, corn, and flavor was amazing!  Just wish the packaging was compostable. 

I tried the black beans. They were tasty but I could do without the plastic. I'd prefer if it were packaged in a can.

Convenient for a quick meal, has pretty great flavor as well. Goes well as aside, I do think that they should be in a can or a more recyclable packaging. Other than that would repurchase again.

I really love this rice. When I don't have time to make my own, it's a really flavorful and easy dinner to heat up one of these packets and add some chicken and toppings to make great tacos or a bowl. The Mexican Brown Rice doesn't need anything added to taste great, but I sometimes kick it up with jalapeños anyway just for spice. I've also used this rice as a salad base with greens for a quick lunch to take to the office and it's great for that, too. On the pricey side, but worth it because it's such a time saver on busy weeknights or at work when I don't have time to step out (and cheaper than buying lunch!)

I really love this brand. It’s a little pricey but makes it so easy to make a delicious meal at home in under 15 min which I appreciate 

While I wouldn't say I was blown away by either of the two flavors I tried, SOMOS rice pouches are certainly tasty. The Mexican Street Corn White Rice had a hint of sweetness and a very mild zing, whereas the Poblano Brown Rice w/ Spinach and Jalapeños had, as the peppers might signal, a bit more heat (though it was by no means overpowering). In a head-to-head taste test, I preferred the natural sugariness and slight creaminess of the Mexican street corn, while my wife liked the authentic taste of the poblano brown rice. All in all, I'd say they were a win-win and, while I probably won't be buying them regularly (rice is easy enough to make), are good alternatives for anyone in a time pinch (they are ready to serve after being microwaved for a minute and a half). 

The pineapple mango crisp is so good! I love the combination of sweet, smoky, spicy and nutty flavors. It really amps up a simple cheese quesadilla or egg sandwich into something special. 

Awesome product!! Really great healthy and quick dinner option. I bought 2 bags of black beans. It took a few minutes to heat up, I added in some cook vegetables, and my dinner was complete! The beans were fresh and deliciously seasoned. Will purchase again! 

Love it. Very fluffy, ready in time according the instruction. I bought Cilantro lime, taste is balanced: not sour, enough cilantro. Two servings in the pack is completely enough for 2 people
