Somos makes a variety of salsas with unique flavor profiles

SOMOS was founded by a group of three friends who grew up in Mexico eating chilaquiles, cooking tacos, and loving their moms’ home cooking. When we came to the United States, we enjoyed meeting up with friends at great Mexican restaurants, but we were disappointed with the options available for creating truly delicious Mexican meals at home. Together, we combined our Mexican heritage and our years of experience in the food community to create ready-to-eat foods that honor Mexico’s rich culinary traditions.

Somos offers a range of convenient, flavorful, and easy-to-prepare products. Its strengths include the rich flavor profiles, the convenience of the packaging, and the quality of the ingredients. However, some customers found the products to be overpriced, excessively salty, and the texture of some products was not to everyone's liking.

I’ve been curious about the brand but didn’t have a reason to try it until the thingtesting offer. Both products were decent. Maybe I’ll try their Salsa Macha at some point.

I am late in posting my review.  A week ago, I had the opportunity to try Somos, through the offer from Thingtesting. I tried the Mexican Black Beans and Mexican Street Corn White Rice. I really love it. I prepared both Somos products for lunch, serving it with plant-based chicken tenders. It was so good. I like that Somos food is packaged, as it makes it so quick and easy to prepare, especially, I love that it's all Plant-based, Gluten-Free and Non-GMO. True authentic Mexican flavor/taste. I will definitely be buying Somos regularly.  

Overall I was super excited to try this product. I’m pretty bad at cooking rice myself so I’m always looking for easier alternatives. However this product was somewhat overpriced and very salty. It was also very mushy. 

Flavor wise, these beans exceeded my expectations. The chipotle adds a delightful hint of smokiness, bringing an elevated depth to the mix. The beans themselves are well-cooked, the texture hitting that sweet spot between a satisfying bite and comforting smoothness. Easily versatile, they're a great staple to have on hand.

Only one problem-- they can be a tad too salty. It's not a deal breaker for me, but if you're watching your salt intake, it's something to keep in mind.

These Refried Black Beans are highly recommendable. They are all about flavor and convenience, just consider balancing out their saltiness with other ingredients. All in all, a solid addition to any kitchen pantry, especially for a person in a rush and on the go.


These black beans by Somos are a wonderful and wholesome option for me and my family. We have had them alongside burgers, as a side dish on taco night and even as an add in item for our homemade vegetable soup and chili. And each time we use them, they seem to be better than the last. These black beans truly are a staple in our household! Highly recommend!

I really liked this rice! I usually love any kind but this one was tasty! I got the Mexican red rice and enjoyed it 

Far exceeded my expectations!  The rice, corn, and flavor was amazing!  Just wish the packaging was compostable. 

I tried the black beans. They were tasty but I could do without the plastic. I'd prefer if it were packaged in a can.

We tried both the black beans and white rice for our taco night. Both were a great addition to our spread and everyone had high praise. Super easy to make and delicious!

Nice rice, attractive packaging, would buy again.
